Henri Davring was born as Heinrich Davringhausen in Aachen in 1900. He attended the Dusseldorf Academy and later he studied with the painter Eckstein. His paintings were initially figurative in nature. Davring had his work on view at the ‘Entartete Kunst’ exhibition. After wandering through Spain and Switzerland he settled in Paris in 1948 where he had solo exhibitions at various galleries. His style is more or less geometric-abstract. Depending on his mood he produced works in exquisite soft tints, but also sometimes with strong contrasts in form and colour. Davringhausen died in Nice in 1970.
