Bill Orix,pseudonym of Guillaume/Willem Hoorickx was a Belgian artist. He was a painter and designer of collages. Medical training in Antwerp. Self-taught when it comes to painting. Settled on the Azure Coast in 1945 and in Paris in 1970. After his imprisonment in the German concentration camp of Mauthausen, he painted raw realistic camp memories for a while. From 1946 he produced geometric abstract work, later evolving towards lyrical abstraction. Sometimes called his works ‘ideograms’ or ‘mindscapes’. Was married to the artist Anna Staritsky. Work, among other things, in the Museum in Brussels. Mentioned in BAS II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists
