René Capouillé was born in Brussels in 1885. He was a talented artist who unfortunately only produced a dozen or so works. Initially, from 1914 to 1919, in the fauvism style. Subsequently his works were with a refined and poetically-charged atmosphere bearing a close resemblance to the abstract school and surrealism. Capouillé was interested in the philosophy of Nietsche and Kierkegaard. He was a member of the Groupe des XV. exhibitions in Brussels. Capouillé died in 1944 in Brussels.
