He attended the Grand Central School of Art and Colombia University, both in New York City.
Taught by Dong Kingman and Xavier Gonzalez.
After World War II he continued his studies in Europe: in Paris at the “Academie de la Grande Chaumière” where he worked under André Lhôte and Fernand Leger, in Florence, Italy where he attended the “Instituto State d’Arte”.
In Liège, Belgium he finished his studies at the “Académie des Beaux Arts”. Selchow absorbed the European influences of the Bauhaus, Constructivism and Cubism.
Working in a geometrical abstract “Parisien” style since 1949 he turned to a realism reminiscent of that of American Precisionist Charles Seeler.
Versatile and prolific painter, draughtsman, watercolorist,sculptor, muralist and industrial artist.
